Tip for Plastic
Bottom Up Engraving

Bottom up Engraving prevents the dust from traveling over the already engraved area and discolouring the material.

HOW: Simply by enabling the bottom-up engraving feature in your print driver.

Worst offenders RED, BLUE.




Tip for Glass
70% Black

When engraving glass you will find that if you modify your artwork to show a 70% black fill colour you will experience cleaner results.

HOW: Select the artwork on screen. Then go to your colour pallet and left mouse click to change the fill colour of your vector artwork.




Tip for Colour Filling

Paper Mask

colour filling is a method of applying colour to an area that has already been engraved. This is most commonly used on wood, plastic and acrylic.

HOW: Simply by applying a paper mask over the object and laser engraving through the paper mask. Once you have engraved through the paper mask simply apply the paint, once the paint dries peel away the paper mask.

Reverse Engraving

Reverse Engraving is a great way to make signage with a flush front surface. It is also used when a sign needs to be colour filled or back lit.

HOW: There are many reverse materials available from Engraver's Express. You must remember when you are reverse engraving to MIRROR your text so that it reads properly when you flip the object back around.




Tip for AlumaMark
Adjust Focus

To increase your chances of flawless engraving on AlumaMark you will want to lower the table about an 1/8 of an inch to deliver cleaner results.

HOW: Simply focus your machine to the material then move the table down 1/16" to 1/8" out of focus.

It is possible to increase the value of a badge by simply replacing a pin back with a magnet backing. Although the price between the two is minimal the perceived value is significant. This will also give you an increased profit margin.




Custom Shaped Cuts

Custom Shapes

You are able to cut many different shapes out of a wide variety of materials with an Epilog Laser System. Any hairline in your CorelDRAW artwork will become a cut line.

HOW: To add a hairline to your vector drawn object simply right click on any of the colours on your colour pallet. To remove a hairline you will right mouse click on the X'ed out colour box on the colour pallet.
